Dr. Ueda earned his veterinary degree from Washington State University. After graduating, he completed a one-year small animal rotating internship at Auburn University, followed by a residency in small animal emergency and critical care at the University of California-Davis. Dr. Ueda was board-certified in small animal emergency and critical care in 2015. He completed his PhD at the University of California-Davis in 2020, subsequently joining North Carolina State University as an assistant professor on the small animal emergency and critical care team. He also serves as the director of the extracorporeal therapy service at NCSU.
