Dr. Edwards earned his DVM degree from the University of Georgia. He then completed a rotating internship at the DoD Military Working Dog Center. He returned to Georgia where he completed a combined masters degree and a residency. He is diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care. He is now an associate professor at Texas A&M University with a dual appointment as the Hemorrhage Control and Vascular Dysfunction department scientific lead at the Army Institute of Surgical Research where he conducts research into areas vital to Military Working Dogs including coagulation abnormalities, transfusion medicine, shock, trauma and resuscitation.
