This session will provide a review on the rapidly expanding connections being made between the gut microbiome and cardiovascular disease in humans, delve into background on the canine microbiome and how diet could impact microbial populations, and introduce a prospective study actively enrolling dogs with dilated cardiomyopathy eating various diets. Preliminary study results will be shared.
Learning Objectives:
Participants will be familiarized with links between the gut microbiome and cardiac disease.
Participants will be familiarized with the canine fecal dysbiosis index as a diagnostic test.
