Presentation Description / Summary: In this presentation we will discuss the effects of immobility/recumbency on the body, as a whole, with a focus on the patient with neurologic injury/disease. Specifically, we will talk about the effect of recumbency on the musculoskeletal, cardiopulmonary, and nervous systems.
Learner Outcomes: 1. Develop awareness of how recumbency and immobility affect the body following neurologic injury. 2. Understand how recumbency adversely affects the cardiopulmonary, nervous and musculoskeletal systems.
