Presentation Description / Summary: The goal of this session is to introduce new genetic diseases in the horse with recently available DNA tests: equine juvenile spinocerebellar ataxia (EJSCA) and a “bleeding panel” that includes genetic variants for Glanzmann’s Thromasthenia and Atypical Equine Thrombasthenia (AET).

Identify the characteristic presentation of equine juvenile spinocerebellar ataxia
Understand how to clinically differentiate inherited coagulation disorders
Determine when genetic testing is warranted in specific cases and the limitations of testing
