Presentation Description / Summary: The clinical workup of cattle with acute abdomen will be presented, including physical examination, ultrasonography of abdominal organ systems, and interpretation of blood work results. The evaluation of prognostic factors will be discussed, based on clinical, ultrasonographic and laboratory findings. Data from resent publications will be included, to highlight the most common findings in specific abdominal diseases and to help differentiating common diseases resulting in conditions presented as acute abdomen. The clinical workup includes the assessment of pain, the general condition of the animal, and the location of the lesion. Based on the findings the decision regarding prognosis and treatment will be discussed.
