In this session we will cover the particular challenges managing the unstable patient with acute liver failure. Specific areas of focus include fluid balance, perfusion, mentation, electrolyte & acid-base imbalances, hemostasis, need for transfusions and nutritional support. Other areas of concern involve the potential benefits of more advanced interventions such as hemoperfusion and adsorption or therapeutic plasma exchange in dogs with acute liver failure.
