Through case-based learning, this session demonstrates a systematic approach to managing obesity in patients with complex comorbidities. We will explore a four-step methodology for diet selection: identifying nutritionally responsive conditions, prioritizing interventions based on morbidity and quality of life impact, analyzing nutritional goals for compatibility or conflict, and selecting optimal dietary solutions.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion, participants will be able to conduct a systematic evaluation of nutritionally responsive diseases using AAHA guidelines to prioritize dietary interventions in complex obesity cases.
Upon completion, participants will be able to demonstrate calculation of appropriate caloric requirements for weight loss while accounting for comorbidities and therapeutic dietary restrictions.
Upon completion, participants will be able to formulate diet plans that balance competing nutritional needs in patients with multiple conditions, such as diabetes, renal disease, and food allergies.
