Managing the Clinical Spectrum of Acute Onset Pancreatitis in Dogs

Presentation Description / Summary: In this session we will review the clinical spectrum of pancreatitis in dogs and how this can impact a dogs treatment plan. Clinical cases will be used to demonstrate how a treatment plan can be tailored to each dog. Interactive audience polling will be used to seek a broad prospective. We will review traditional supportive and symptomatic care while also reviewing novel treatments such as corticosteroids, Panoquell-CA1 (Fuzapladib sodium) and Mesenchymal Stem Cell infusions

Learner Outcomes: Understand what factors influence whether a patient may be suitable for inpatient vs outpatient management of pancreatitis. Understand supportive and symptomatic care for the management of pancreatitis in dogs. Understand the mechanism of action of Panoquell-CA1 (Fuzapladib sodium for injection) and evaluate evidence supporting its use in dogs with clinical signs of pancreatitis.
