Teresa studied veterinary medicine at the University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna, Austria, and at the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover, Germany. She obtained her PhD in Systems Neuroscience from the Department of Neurology in Hannover where she investigated the microbiome-gut-brain axis in dogs with pharmacoresistant epilepsy. Teresa then joined the Gastrointestinal Laboratory at Texas A&M University as a Postdoctoral Research Associate to continue her research on the microbiome-gut-brain axis and to discover novel biomarkers that could pave the way for more holistic treatment approaches in various diseases.
