Mio graduated in 2013 from James Cook University with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science. Following graduation, she worked in general practice before completing a rotating small animal internship at the University of Queensland. Following the internship, Mio then returned to general practice as well as commencing work as an emergency and critical care clinician. In 2019, she gained her membership through the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists – Small Animal Internal Medicine. The following year, she commenced a residency in Small Animal Medicine at Brisbane Veterinary Specialist Centre which was completed in April 2023.
