Tiago Afonso, DVM, PhD, DACVIM (he/him/his)

Tiago is a diplomate of the ACVIM, specializing in Large Animals, and holds a PhD in Equine Cardiology. After completing both programs in 2016 at the University of Georgia, USA, he gained experience in private practice and academia in Australia and New Zealand. In 2019, he returned to North America as an assistant professor at the University of Saskatchewan. There, he conducted research, supervised students and house officers in the clinic, and was honored with the Teacher of the Year Award in his first year at that institution. In the Spring of 2022, Tiago decided he wanted a new challenge, and transitioned to the industry, joining Dechra as a Technical Services Veterinarian.
