The goal of this session is to review and discuss the approach to the airway in the pet pig, including medical and potentially surgical procedures for pigs. The pig can have a challenging airway, and complications are common. We will discuss sedation and anesthesia protocols, and the potential benefits of use of an LMA.

Learning Objectives:

Understand why intubating pigs can be challenging and how to mitigate the risk
Understand available options for "twilight" sleep that may negate the need for general anesthesia
Understand how to recognize and treat intubation complications
