Presentation Description / Summary: Prosthetic laryngoplasty (tie-back) combined with ventriculectomy (PLVC) surgery, performed to enhance upper airway function in horses diagnosed with recurrent laryngeal neuropathy (RLN), has been linked to short-term coughing and increased tracheal mucus accumulation. However, the long-term risk of developing lower airway inflammation remains unassessed. This study aimed to determine whether horses diagnosed with RLN who undergo PLVC surgery face an elevated risk of lower airway inflammation.
Learner Outcomes: 1. The learner will describe a possible complication after surgery for Left-Sided Laryngeal Neuropathy in Sport Horses. 2. The learner will describe the possibility of getting Equine Asthma after surgery for Left-sided Laryngeal Neuropathy.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion, participant will be able to define a possible complication after surgery for Left-Sided Laryngeal Neuropathy in Sport Horses.
Upon completion, participant will be able to describe the possibility of getting Equine Asthma after surgery for Leftsided Laryngeal Neuropathy.
Upon completion, participant will be able to evaluate horses with Equine Asthma.
