Environmental Sustainability in Veterinary Medicine SIG Breakfast Meeting ACVIM Forum 2025
Diccon Westworth will present on practical procurement of more sustainable medical supplies and materials, the prevention of waste through the use of reusable materials, define and explore the concept of Life Cycle Analysis, and emphasize the importance of moving towards a more circular economy.
Meggan Harris, Senior Director of Commercial Delivery for AmerisourceBergen MWI Animal Health (the breakfast sponsor), will present multiple practical and readily implementable strategies for purchasing more sustainably, including demonstrating and discussing the use of reusable delivery totes, sustainable and reusable medical materials, an inventory management improvement system, consolidating deliveries, and more.
Angela Frimberger will present on the interaction of renewable energy projects with agriculture and biodiversity. The impact of renewable energy projects on biodiversity and agriculture has often been pointed to as a reason to slow, stop or reduce the transition to renewable energy. While not dismissing the genuine concerns over the impact of renewable energy projects on biodiversity and agriculture; it is important to consider them in the contexts of the progress that has been made on them, the challenge of climate change itself, and the challenges associated with other forms of energy generation.
We invite participants to bring their own questions, concerns, or presentations to the floor - to provide an interactive and discursive breakfast meeting.
The session will be moderated by Kris MacDonald.
