Presentation Description / Summary: Communication is a key part of nutritional conversations, and it continues to be the wedge between our patients and making a good dietary recommendation. This session will look at current communication-focused research in the veterinary industry to identify barriers and potential areas for change management. Utilizing four key steps: be kind, be curious, be empathetic, and be ready to provide a recommendation will be discussed to aid in moving through all types of nutrition-focused conversations. Attendees will be engaged to participate in scenarios to practice this communication format.
Learning Objectives:
. The attendees will be able to describe the four key steps and give an example for each step.
The attendees will be able to create talking tracks to help support their communication learning journey.
The attendees will feel more comfortable responding to clients in general and specific conversations.
