This session will provide an overview of the immunologic protections and potential damages of the respiratory tract. Due to restrictions of time, this will be a high level review but will help set the stage for the following presentation.
Learning Objectives:
Recognize the relative roles of the major components of the respiratory defenses; physical, innate, and adaptive.
Recognize some of the ways that inadequate defense systems lead to disease.
Recognize some of the ways that dysregulated or overexuberant defenses lead to disease.
