Presentation Description / Summary: In this presentation we will discuss rehabilitation techniques utilized to combat the effects of recumbency and immobility on the body, with specific focus on the patient with neurologic injury/disease. Specifically therapy as it relates to improving proprioception/coordination, strengthening, patient motivation behavior and cognitive state.
Learner Outcomes: 1. Understand how specific rehabilitation exercises/techniques can be utilized to improve proprioception/coordination, muscle strength, patient motivation and cognitive state 2. Improve awareness of the benefits (sometimes intangible or hard to quantify) of physical rehabilitation following neurologic injury
