Presentation Description / Summary: The presentation will review the current landscape of transcatheter mitral and tricuspid valve therapies in both man and dogs. It will hightlight the benefits, limitations and risks associated with the various therapies. Data from early feasibility studies for different transcatheter therapies will be presented. The lecture will also present a proposed design for a multicenter clinical trial in dogs with mitral valve disease treated with an experimental transcatheter valve device.
Learner Outcomes: 1. Current options for transcatheter treatments for mitral and tricuspid disease in dogs and man. 2. Complications associated with transcatheter valve treatments. 3. Relative effectiveness of transcatheter valve treatments compared to optimal medical therapy.
